Kuszczak: United still team to beat

Manchester United goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak is adamant that dropped points in recent weeks will not affect his side's Premier League title ambitions.

The Polish international is currently enjoying first-team football for United and started the weekend's draw against Birmingham.

As a result of that match United are now one point behind Premier League leaders Chelsea having played a game more. However, The Reds have lost five games so far this season - something which could be a worry for Sir Alex Ferguson.

Kuszczak remains confident that all the teams battling at the top of the Premier League will continue to lose games and drop points before the end of the season, meaning United need to ensure they remain in the hunt in the coming months.

"The league is really tough this year. There's not much to choose between quite a few of the big sides. There is obviously still a feeling we can finish the season as champions," said the goalkeeper.

"There are a lot of games to play. But I still think we are the ones the others have to beat."

Veteran United defender Gary Neville has said that the team's recent disappointments in the league, and being knocked out of the FA Cup by League One side Leeds United, were nothing more than a blip and not the disaster that people have speculated. Indeed, United are still among the favourites when it comes to Premier League betting.
