Ancelotti confident despite Drogba absence

The absence of Didier Drogba should not affect Chelsea's Premier League title odds to any large degree.

That is the view of Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti, with the Italian manager stating that he is not too concerned about having to do without his top scorer.

Drogba could miss four Premier League matches in total if Ivory Coast reach the final of the African Cup of Nations, together with Chelsea's FA Cup third round tie against Watford.

Ancelotti is confident he can change the system his side plays in order to cope with the loss of Drogba, as he could use a winger such as Florent Malouda or bring on Daniel Sturridge depending upon the match.

"Didier has scored 19 goals but without him, this year, we've done very well," said the boss.

"We won three games in the Champions League without him. We can do the same in the Premier League."

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has identified Chelsea as the main rival in his side's aim to win the Premier League title this season.

The United manager said the experience of Chelsea means it should be a two-way battle between them to lift the trophy in May.
