Arsenal need more height in their side if they want to regain their place at the top of the Premier League table, according to Andrey Arshavin.

The Russian midfielder saw his side drop 11 points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea as they lost 3-0 to their West London rivals at the weekend, and Arshavin says the defeat showed where the Gunners are lacking.

A frustrating week for Arsenal fans also saw their side knocked out of the Carling Cup by Manchester City 3-0 and Arsene Wenger has been criticised by experts and supporters alike for sticking with his rotation policy in cup competitions.

Arshavin claims both the defeats over the last seven days against Arsenal's direct rivals around the top of the Premier League is a sign the side is "not very good".

"We are not good on set-pieces because we don't have many tall players - every other team has an advantage over us in this area," said the Russian.

"They were much stronger than us when it came to physical power."

Wenger has been hit by an injury crisis over recent weeks with Gael Clichy, Abou Diaby, Nicklas Bendtner, Kieran Gibbs and Robin van Persie out.

This list was added to in recent days as it was revealed Theo Walcott will miss Saturday's Premier League game against Stoke with a hamstring problem, while Alex Song is suspended for the match.
