Defoe needs surgery

Jermaine Defoe's continual groin troubles will probably force the striker to have surgery on the injury. After initially confirming the surgery, Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has now stated Defoe may be able to avoid an operation, but it would be best for all involved if Defoe just went under the knife and cleared up the injury rather than risk it. This current injury has bothered the striker since before the World Cup and although the rehab period for the operation may be up to month things could be worse if the injury flares up throughout the season.
