Sir Alex suffering goalkeeping predicament

The goalkeeping situation at Manchester United could be one predicament which is worrying Sir Alex Ferguson.

Despite Van der Sar still performing well for the Old Trafford outfit, he is almost 40 years old and may not be able to play for much longer.

Ben Foster replaced him in the United goal at the start of the Premier League season but a series of high-profile mistakes has seen him being questioned as the long-term successor.

What about Tomasz Kuszack? Well, the Pole has also not been consistent when coming into the team and may not have done his chances any help by possibly incurring the wrath of Sir Alex by criticising Van der Sar in public.

The 27-year-old has hinted in an interview that the veteran Dutchman has rejected his appeals for help to improve his game or give any advice.

Kuszack risked a response from both his manager and team-mates as he said: "I must say this, and Edwin won't like this too much for sure, but he doesn't help me too much. I have told him a few times already to give me some more advice because he's got more experience."

"Maybe Edwin doesn't like me. You'll have to ask him," he added.

Despite Sir Alex coming out and claiming his reserve keeper's comments were just "Polish humour" and an attempt at a joke, it seems a safe football bet that he is far from happy at the incident.

Remember around ten years ago when it seemed every goalkeeper around the world was linked to replace Schmeichel at Old Trafford? It would not be a shock for this to repeat itself when Van der Sar decides to hang up his gloves.
