With the NBA trade deadline quickly approaching, rumors start to heat up.
One such hot topic is the future of Phoenix Suns forward Amare Stoudemire. Because there is a strong possibility that the Suns will lose
Amare to free agency this summer, the team may find it in their best interests to deal the forward.
One possibility is the New Jersey Nets, the nets have a glut of young players as well as 10 draft picks over the next three drafts of which are five possible first-rounders. It is good to note that the Nets will also have the most room under the salary cap come this July should Stoudemire end up on the market. The Cleveland Cavaliers may also have a strong interest in the power forward/center position with injuries to guards Mo Williams and Delonte West, current Cavs center Shaquille O'Neal is forced into more minutes than the coaching staff would like the big man to have until the post season. Sources have told The News Herald that the Cavaliers have reached out and spoke with the Phoenix Suns in regards to Amare. But nothing is set in stone as of yet. According to a source, The Sun-Sentinel reports that the Miami Heat are also thinking about bidding for Stoudemire but nothing has yet to really come to the table. Another Phoenix Suns player, guard Jason Richardson, may too be on the list of players likely to be traded. Richardson, one of the highest paid players on the Suns salary making $13.3 million this season and $14.4 million in 2010-11 had this to say: "After that first trade from Golden State, I realized it's a business," Richardson said. "After the trade from Charlotte (to Phoenix), I knew it was a business. You don't really worry about it. You just focus on winning games. I'm a high-paid player. We're struggling a bit. Unless you're a guy like Steve Nash or LeBron James, there's always going to be rumors about being traded." The Sacramento Kings have also expressed possibly trading guard Kevin Martin if the duo of Martin and rookie point guard Tyreke Evans didn't work out. According to ESPN's Marc Stein, the Dallas Mavericks are willing to deal forward Josh Howard for Kevin Martin. Considering the current 0-6 record with Martin back in the lineup, a trade could be likely. |
