FC Gold Pride has been taking some time off after going on a two-game road trip that had them tie the Boston Breakers 1-1 on June 17, followed by a 2-0 loss to WPS-best L.A. Sol on June 21.

While on break, I was able to catch up with team captain Leslie Osborne to ask her some questions on the team, playing in an upstart pro league and more. Here's what she had to say:

It is the question Liverpool fans have been asking since 1990. Can their team finally win another league title? They are entitled to start the coming season with more hope than they have mustered for most of the last 19 years, as the Reds' recent progress has coincided with a period of uncertainty seemingly engulfing their rivals.

Manchester United have been unsettled by the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid. The transfer cannot

It’s been a rough go for the FC Gold Pride over the last month of play. After winning on the road against the Chicago Red Stars on May 16, they’ve gone winless in their next five tilts.

A June 21, Father’s Day, 2-0 loss to the WPS-best Los Angeles Sol was the most recent non-win for the Pride. Now, maybe a blessing in disguise, is an extended break. Next up for the Gold Pride is a July 5 home game versus St. Louis Athletica. (The match will also have a celebration of the '99 World Cup winning team.)

Manchester United never saw how it happened, so skilled and masterly was Barcelona's game in the European Cup 27 May. The champs were unburdened of the European cup, and could only take satisfaction in knowing that they did not lose cheaply.

1 - Houston Dynamo: Oh how San Jose wishes they could have their original team back. While the current Quakes struggle with just about everything (despite winning this week, 2-1 vs. L.A.), the former Quakes "stumbled" to a tie at home against RSL. I'll still take the Dynamo over the Quakes, and any MLS team, anyway.

2 - Chivas USA: Rest will do this team well. League take note.

Two of the lowest-scoring teams in the MLS - San Jose Earthquakes and Los Angeles Galaxy (15, T-2nd fewest) - met for the second time this season at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum.

Chelsea will again start a Premier League season with a new manager. Carlo Ancelotti might have been brought in to win the Champions League, but the new boss knows domestic success will earn him another chance at European glory if he is not successful at his first attempt.
